Creation of Czechoslovak ducats in 1923
JUDr. is considered to be the creator of the idea of issuing Czechoslovak ducats. Alois Rašín, Czechoslovak Minister of Finance in the period 11.11.1918 - 8.7.1919 and 8.10.1922 - 18.2.1923.
He wanted the Czechoslovak ducats to follow the old Czech ducats and Kremnica ducats. Therefore, they decided on motifs that would resemble the historical Czech ducats with the image of St. Wenceslas, who was the patron saint of Bohemia, was associated with Czech ducats for a long time, and his image on the coins symbolized continuity and stability. On the other side were the symbols of the Czechoslovak Republic.
He himself did not see their implementation, because he died on February 18, 1923 as a result of an assassination wound.
Gold St. Wenceslas ducats were and are still popular among collectors and investors not only in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, but also abroad.
